Some parents think that computer games are better for children and they should be allowed to play more of them. Whereas some parents argue that they are harmful to children. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

Today’s children are bombarded by countless versions of video games, be it on the mobile, tablet PC, a computer or a laptop. This development has generated two schools of thought one is support of the technologically powered games and one in opposition. However, my indication is towards those who oppose.

Computer games are indeed harmful to children in numerous ways. To begin with, computer games compel children to sit at one place and play for hours. This can have adverse results in the long run as sitting postures of almost all children are not healthy and accurate. Moreover, incessant exposure to a computer screen is harmful to their tender and young eyes and we all know the possible consequences if one’s eyesight gets affected at a very young age.

Furthermore, computer games also oblige children to stay alone and prevent them from interacting with their peers or others. This is egregious as children miss out on important lessons on socializing. Finally, most children either stay hungry for a long time or overeat while playing games as they do not really pay attention to this aspect of their being. Such unhealthy food intake can lead to multiple health problems for them.

However, some parents support the idea of their children playing computer games. They say that computer games help children to get tech savvy at an early age. Next, they add that it helps children to develop their psychological strength and general intelligence. Finally, they assert that such digital entertainment is safe as children do not have to step out of their homes.

Conclusively, I opine that computer games are an evil that can certainly harm young children and can physically and mentally weaken the youth of the future. So, according to me, children should never be motivated to play computer games.
