The composition of the secondary school curriculum has
always been attracting a range of suggestions from people belonging to various
fields. However, not all are worth following and the view that international
news as a subject should be added to secondary school studies is one of them.
My opinion is that news from other countries has little
influence on the native culture, language and lifestyle. It is difficult for
children of a secondary school to comprehend the effects this because they are
at an impressionable age. In addition, many a times it happens that they
misunderstand the news thereby getting negative inspiration.
Moreover, news comes from all walks of life and it is indeed
difficult to exclude a specific aspect of it because things are interrelated.
Finally, secondary school studies are often burdensome for most students. They
fail short of time to complete the academic syllabus assigned to them. In this
case, asking a difficult and complex subject like international news may cause
them to deviate from their goals.
On the other hand, some people argue that studying
international news can help students to stay aware of the latest trends in all
walks of life like politics, sports, lifestyles, education technology and so
on. They also assert that such updates can broaden their knowledge and enhance
their learning capabilities.
Lastly, according to me adding international news in
secondary school certainly has more advantages than ways in which it could be
helpful. It is a complex, difficult, demanding and burdensome task for children
at a crucial period of their development and hence I opine against it.
